Kiwi Customs Want Your Password

New Zealand customs has made a request for powers to demand the right for travellers' laptop passwords. 

It raises a question about how far authorities can go under the pretence of border security. David Campbell wonders how practical it is for customs to look at the content of laptops without adding to the queue to exit the airport. Another question would be, how often would customs really need to look at a computer when stopping someone at the border? It's the subject of a discussion paper that's attracted a hefty number of comments from concerned parties over the ditch.
