Utah: Death by Firing Squad

As Australia prepares for the death of Andrew Chan and Myran Sukumaran, Utah wants to show how barbaric it can be, proposing to introduce death by firing squad.

The Utah House of Representatives approved a measure Friday that would allow executions by firing squad. Perhaps it makes sense in a country obsessed with guns and its probably a lot cheaper, and quicker, than death by lethal injection - a method that has had its fair share of controversy lately.

There is another approach, of course. Don't kill at all. As Richard Kazimer reports from the US, Attorney General Eric Holder made his views clear this week: the death penalty is wrong. Sadly, he's still in a minority.

What is Balls Radio?

Balls Radio is like talk radio, but for thinking people. Now a short daily occurrence, Phil Dobbie offers his opinions on what's happening, in the UK and overseas: politics, social policy, economics, science, religion. Yes, it's another, slightly overweight middle-aged white man telling the world how it should be. But there's nothing alt-right about Balls Radio. And we try and have fun along the way.
