Walmart rises above the minimum wage

Whilst the US President has promised to lift the US minimum wage to a level where people could afford to eat, Walmart has unilaterally adding a few extra dollars on the payback of its half a million low income workers.

It's no great shakes, though. The minimum wage in the US is a magnificent $7.25 per hour. If you worked a 40 hour week, all year, no days off, that’d be the grand total of $15k a year.

It's a long way from the base wage here in Australia. Here's a comparison, in Australia dollars, per hour:

Australia: $18.70

France: $13.65

UK: $12.80

Germany: $12.30

US: $9.25

Russia: $1

What is Balls Radio?

Balls Radio is like talk radio, but for thinking people. Now a short daily occurrence, Phil Dobbie offers his opinions on what's happening, in the UK and overseas: politics, social policy, economics, science, religion. Yes, it's another, slightly overweight middle-aged white man telling the world how it should be. But there's nothing alt-right about Balls Radio. And we try and have fun along the way.
