Steve Keen on Government Debt

The Daily Telegraph reported on a PWC study saying the debt to DSP ratio will be over 50% within 10-15 years. Should we be worried?

They say a trillion dollar debt would place Australia in the “same economic garbage dump as some crisi-riddled European nations – except that, as those nations have belatedly adopted austerity measures, they would likely be outperforming Australia by mid-century.

Their editorial points to debt-deniers who are, they say, standing in opposition to basic mathematics, pointing out that we spend $30 million a day paying interest on our loans.

Prof. Steve Keen, head of the School of Economics, Politics and History at Kingston University London. says the Tele seems to be getting basic mathematics confused with economics.

What is Balls Radio?

Balls Radio is like talk radio, but for thinking people. Now a short daily occurrence, Phil Dobbie offers his opinions on what's happening, in the UK and overseas: politics, social policy, economics, science, religion. Yes, it's another, slightly overweight middle-aged white man telling the world how it should be. But there's nothing alt-right about Balls Radio. And we try and have fun along the way.
