Tony Abbott also said this week that, if the coalition is returned to government, they will return to the prosperity of the Howard era. As Steve Keen, professor of economics at the University of Western Sydney, says, this means returning to a period of untold growth in private debt – the debt that led to the global financial crisis that is still playing out today. Could his approach just be adding to the debt bubble?
Technology commentator Stilgherrian reckons there’s another bubble about to burst in the technology sector. Peter Thiel bailing out of Facebook is an example of how people in the know seem to be directing their money elsewhere. Stil sticks his neck out and predicts that we’re on the verge of another dot com bust.
